AAC for autistic communicators

A customizable AAC app for autistic children and adults.

MehzadTalks offers picture-based communication boards, typing and spoken messages for autistic people who are nonspeaking, minimally speaking or sometimes unable to rely on speech.

Personal vocabularyAdd familiar people, places, foods, activities and routines.
More than picturesUse boards, quick phrases, typing and word completion.
Reduced interruptionsKiosk features help keep the communicator inside their board.

Communication built around the person

There is no single board that fits every autistic communicator. MehzadTalks lets families and professionals change words, pictures, voices and layouts to reflect the person’s actual life.

Start with meaningful words

Useful early vocabulary often includes more than requests. Consider words for refusing, asking for help, commenting, feelings, favorite activities, people and places. The right starting vocabulary depends on the individual.

Model without pressure

Communication partners can tap words while speaking to demonstrate how the AAC system works. The device should remain available; using AAC does not require the person to stop other forms of communication.

Important: MehzadTalks is a communication tool, not autism treatment. A speech-language therapist with AAC experience can help select vocabulary, access methods and layouts.

AAC and autism questions

Is AAC only for people who cannot speak at all?

No. AAC may support people with no speech, limited speech, unreliable speech or periods when speaking becomes difficult.

Can parents customize the boards?

Yes. Boards can be adapted around daily routines, interests, needs and the words most relevant to the person.

Does the app work without Wi-Fi?

The native iOS app is designed to work offline. The web version should be opened and tested on the device before relying on offline access.

A voice should never depend on a subscription.

MehzadTalks is free forever for autistic communicators and everyone else who needs AAC.
